Module III
Module III Objectives:
Individually students must choose
5 posts required - 1 each week. Each blog post must be between 200-300 words (that is roughly 2-3 paragraphs/10-15 sentences). Each post is worth 30 points.
Group reports are worth 250 points. This report can be anything you want it to be as long as you meet the competencies listed above, and it must be stand alone. (i.e. a PowerPoint presentation where you have to talk and/or read the slides is not stand alone - Add voice narration.)
- Analyze and present results of independent reading of a text chosen from the American Library Association's list of Most Challenged Books, 1990-2000.
- Articulate a personal position on the issue of censorship of printed materials, and identify national organizations that promote or oppose censorship.
- Identify and describe the effects of censorship on readers, writers, publishers, educators, and librarians.
- Identify and explain factors that motivate people and organizations to challenge and/or ban books.
- Explain and exemplify uses of censorship by a dominant culture to suppress minority voices.

- author with several texts
- or a theme

- Week 12: What your plan of actions will be and why you choose book, author or theme.
- Week 13: Reflect on the major themes of your text and analysis of text. Use the Literary Terms handout is you need help with analysis.
- Week 14: Reflect on the major themes of your text and analysis of text. Use the Literary Terms handout is you need help with analysis.
- Week 15: Identify and explain factors that motivate people and organizations to challenge and/or ban your book(s)
- Week 16: Explain your project. Where is it? How are we supposed to view it? What should we be aware of. Here's your chance to advertise your project.
