Week 16 - My project

Welcome to my final post! I will now explain what my project is all about and where it is.
I read the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and the url to my page is :

fahrenheit451bradbury.wetpaint.com

My page will have an analysis of the plot as the homepage with an intriguing picture the motion picture. I also included pages about the characters, who bans the book, who is against banning, videos, and about Ray Bradbury.

I tried my best in making the wiki wetpaint without giving out any spoil… Continue

Week 15 - Challenging My Book

It was very hard to find who challenged Fahrenheit 451. The only real case I could find was one in the Mississippi School District where a parent complained that the book had words like, ''goddamnit'. Others would also say that they would ban it for the language. But in most part, people probably wanted the book banned because it showed a negative future for us. The books talks about how we might be censored in the future and how the 'firemen' are trying to control the people in this way. Some s… Continue

Week 14 - Characters

Guy Montag: The protagonist of the book, he is a firemen that makes fires and burns books. He sees his job as normal and comfortable until he meets a young girl name Clarisse that shows him that he's not happy living the way he is. He begins reading books and yearning to understand. Working as a firemen, he is very cautious of what could happen to him, but later, does not care and freely shows his wanting of the books. At work, Captain Beatty is constantly showing him up on his knowledge of lite… Continue

week 13 - Exposition

Guy Montag lives in a time when everything is so different and topsy-turvy. He is a fireman that makes fires. He burns books without a second thought.
"Monday burn Millay, Wednesday Whitman. Friday Faulkner, burn 'em to ashes, then burn the ashes. That's our official slogan."
The setting takes place somewhere in the future when problems are taken to the extreme. For instance, suicide by sleeping pills is so normal that there is a company that fix all the cases of it every evening. Nothing is see… Continue

Week 12:Plan of Action - Fahrenheit 451

My solo project book has finally been decided and I chose Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. This book challenges both the Nazi book burnings and reading in general. This is why I chose this book. It seemed interesting that in their society, firemen make fires, not put them out. Like in my group project, I plan on making a wetpaint site and making various pages for all the important factors. I am now working on my banner and I am halfway through the book.

Hey Hana!
I created a wiki on wetpaint for my solo project (http://judyblumebannedbooks.wetpaint.com) and can not figure out how to create a banner, similar to what you created on our Chocolate War wiki.

Do you mind helping me with it one day that we finish up class early?

Welcome to ENH295 Hana. Good to see you in another of my classes. This is where we'll spend most of our time in the class. I'll be adding more this weekend. No Blackboard this time.
