Final Blog: My PROject

My project is available for veiwing pleasure at goosebumpsbooks.wetpaint.com . The main focus of my project is a two-minute video about the books and the author. On the page there is also links to my oppinion on banning books and a bibliography. I might as well be honest, my project is awesome. Just go look at it because it needs no introduction, and speaks for itself. I think that everyone who sees it might be inspired to protest in the streets for the freedom of our language. Who knows. I real… Continue

Why were they banned?

I researched why the Goosebump books were banned, and to my surprise I couldn't find that many specific instances of banning. It seemed generally, parents are afriad of thier children being afraid and having nightmares. The only specific case I found was on CNN.com:"January 1997 in Minneapolis, Minnesota some parents inspired questioned R.L. Stine's Goosebumps should be banned in the school library because it is too scary for children."I'm simply exercising my right as a parent to challenge the m… Continue

Module 3: Blog #3 Man vs. Unnatural Nature

One of my former favorites of the Goosebumps series, the Beast From the East, has come to quite an intense spot. At this point in the book, the main characters are in the middle of a deadly tag game with their opposition no where in sight. Nat thinks of a solution to locate them. They are in a forest, so he figures he'll just climb the sturdy tree that he's next to.
He makes it to the top of the tree with his sister down below, when the tree begins to move. It has joints like elbows and b… Continue

Module 3 Blog 2: Forshadowing Future Irony

I'm reading Egg Monsters From Mars by R.L. Stine. There's a part where the main character's little sister is introduced before the scene of her birthday party. A couple pages are dedicated to describing how she always gets her way. "If Brandy asked for a red white and blue ostrich for her birthday, Dad would be out in the garage right now, painting an ostrich."
I think this is added to add contrast to the main character Dana, but it also turns into an irony at her birthday party. She had… Continue

Mod 3: Blog 1

The final module, I'm so excited! Seeing the other group's presentations have inspired me with many new ideas for my solo project. I'll be making a report about the Goosbump series and thier author, R. L. Stein. There's a looming feeling of "this is going to be my best project ever" that I hope translates into just that. I will probably use the online computer tools that we were shown in class to display it. It will be like and unlike anything you've ever seen.
