Week 13: Solo Projects

We are working on solo projects. Looks like most of you have chosen your book or author and wrote about it in a blog post. I want to share some more tools with you to help you create lively digital projects that people will enjoy viewing. The first tool is Yodio. http://www.yodio.com/. Your voice is unique and personal just like your stories. Use Yodio to add your stories to your photos or presentations, and share these narrated photos with the world. Pretty c… Continue

Week 11: Last Week for Group Projects

Today I'm leaving you alone to work in your groups. Your projects are due by Sunday night, so this may be the last time for you all to work together. I'll be available if you need help, but you will need to email or call me, as I will not be in the classroom. You can meet anywhere you like, including the classroom or library. And don't forget your last journal. I can't wait to see these projects! Continue

Week 8: Into Week 3 of Group Projects

Time is rolling by. It looks like most of the groups are on the right track. Two groups may be struggling a bit because some members are not coming to class. Don't be the one who brings your group down. Remember this is supposed to be an easy class. You can do this. Get in contact with your group and let them know you are still in it if you were absent today. Today I demonstrated how to use SlideShare and GoogleDocs to present PowerPoint presentations on the web. These are great tools that can… Continue

It looks like all four groups are off and running. Good job. I'm excited about your choices and look forward to your presentations. Be sure to read the Module II page, by clicking the Module link above and then choosing Module II. You'll find the group project objectives and other information. Also, don't forget you have a group page. You can use that page in any way you want, except you don't want to use it for the main presentation. If you have any questions, be sure to ask. Continue

Week 3 of Lady Chatterly

I hope you are all enjoying Lady Chatterly's Lover. It is one of my favorite books, and I haven't read it in over 20 years. Yes, I know, I'm old. :) Anyway, this time around I'm listening to it on audiobook, which is challenging for me. I love to read, and some how it just doesn't feel like I'm reading. I love to pause and think about a passage before continuing and iTunes and my ipod just don't do that for me unless I push a button. I also miss seeing the words. I know that sounds odd

What is a Hybrid Course?

A hybrid course is one that has some percentage of the course content online, but still provides the comfort of meeting with an instructor in person 1 day a week. So instead of relying solely on the instructor to provide the class information in class two times a week for a total of 3 hours each week, a hybrid class splits it up a bit and puts a lot of the materials online where they are accessible 24/7 making in-class meetings shorter & more meaningful. Here’s a description of how this c

What’s this banned books class all about?

People have actually banned books in the US. That’s censorship. What about the 1st Amendment? And who are they to tell us what we can read? We are going to read some of those books and learn about why books have been banned or challenged and by whom. Books are often challenged or banned due to an individual or group of individuals considering the book to be controversial, immoral, inappropriate, sexually explicit, divisive, corrupt, vulgar, violent, or even wicked. Unfortunately, challenged a
