Journal 13 - Inciting Force & Conflict

Little Tonya, the 10 year old that was brutally raped, beaten, and left for dead by two white men, is expected to live. The two men are not. Dad, Carl Lee, has it all planned and awaits in a closet of the court house. When the time is right and the men are in position Carl Lee jumps from his hiding place and blows them away. Unfortunately, he is seen. First by the deputy that is transporting them, and by a maintenance man that works in the court. The most important thing is that the two child rapists won't be able to hurt another child again.

Carl Lee has been arrested and taken to jail. A major weight is lifted from his shoulders, his little girl has been avenged. Now comes an even bigger fight. Though the rape of a child is deplorable. Most people would be outraged with what has happened, but this is the south. This is where racism is rampant. Life is not the same for black people. What the people focus on is this is a black man that killed white men in cold blood. No matter that this pigs raped a little girl.

Jake is the lawyer that got Carl Lee's brother, Lester, acquitted for murder. Jake is who Carl Lee goes to because if he can get his brother off he can surely get him off. Or can he? Threats are flying. Against Carl Lee. Against Jake because he is defending him. Even the jury as they are being picked.
