I think that the underlying message in this book was really good. Or at least what I took from it was. At the end one of the guys’ talks about the Phoenix bird and how it built a pyre and burnt itself up, but then it sprung out of the ashes to do it over and over. He also says that they knowing the silly mistake they made can prevent it from happening again. I think that’s huge because when we learn from mistakes can we really call them mistakes? If we are denied information and the government or someone tries to control us then in the long run we will become like robots in a way, like Montag’s wife Millie did. At the end a man also talked about what you leave behind you when you die. And that was very inspiring and a great point as well.
This book made me think a lot in a few different ways. Another main message I saw that was also discussed toward the end would be about the literature. When Montag meets the guys on the tracks and learns that there are people all over that have parts of books or the whole book memorized. They do that and then burn it so they won’t get caught, just to carry it with them until one day they can print it again Montag was blown away. To me this telling you how amazing the mind is and how much knowledge it can hold. Also how important each book could mean one for different reasons, but so much time was put into them so much life and love. Sometimes we get caught up with all the new technology and forget how great a book can be. Someone may have worked there whole life just for it to be the only thing they left behind.
